It seems the Step Up initiative is gaining ground. As a corporate partner, I received this recent update.
- To date, over 1,000 9th grade students, along with their parents, from 45 high schools across the State have signed a pledge form for Project Step Up, signifying their commitment to earn the BOE Step Up Diploma.
- Mililani High School turned in the highest number of forms from any one school, 375 pledges.
- Congratulations to Ke Kula O Ehunuikaimalino (Hawaiian Immersion School on the Big Island) who pledged 100% of their 9th grade class to earn the BOE Step Up Diploma.
- The project has garnered the support of over 80 community partners statewide.
Visit Step Up’s webpage to see a graph that shows the amount of student pledge forms by school. Also, the deadline to pledge has been extended to March 15, 2010. So, there is still time for 9th graders to pledge. And, even more exciting, in February, Project Step Up will be extended to middle school 8th graders, giving them the opportunity to pledge for the BOE Step Up diploma. The pledge deadline for 8th graders will be May 31, 2010.
