Education in America

Another video for you.  More of the same disturbing statistics about our failing education system… but this time in a video format put to catchy music.  However, worth thinking more about are the statistics regarding teacher time on task and salary.  How do you interpret the data?  The bottom line:  teachers in the U.S. spend more time teaching than our global counterparts, with poorer results.   (Results as measured by math, reading, and science scores on standardized tests.  Side note:  a very “narrow” way to measure performance, as Sir Ken Robinson expressed in a recent talk.)  With regards to teacher salaries in the U.S., are teachers undervalued by our society?

I’m heading to see Waiting for Superman tonight… so, more thoughts to come.
